What did you do to your Jeep today?

Recommended Posts

Changed the oil. I was going to do the transmission and transfer case, but UPS screwed up my order, so that will have to be a project for next weekend.

Surprisingly the new rubi didn’t come with a hitch. Not sure if I’ll ever tow much but at least I can use a bike rack or hitch basket.

I have the hitch from my 08 hiding in the weeds in my yard if that works

Had to take it to the dealership this week. Getting a new left side cylinder head. They're also resetting the computer so the inspection station can read the codes and inspect it. Although at a glance the 2016 would look like a 2018 sticker.

What happened to the head?

The 2012+ 3.6 ltr gets a #6 cylinder misfire code. They recognize it as a known problem and replace the left head. Not sure what the defect is, but they give to 10 years and 100 or150 K miles window to get it done......free. but they only replace the 3 spark plugs, $89 to replace the other side. $100 to clean the right side of the intake and head, since I just turned50K I got the tranny flushed and service.  SO out the door for $452.

They did both of my heads as I had an early early '12 (bought in June of 11).  BUT, that code has not appeared since.

15 minute job, you have to buy the thermostat and housing from the dealer. It's a one piece deal. Also get a gal of antifreeze total cost 55 bucks.
