3.8L Front crank seal part number

Recommended Posts

Timken part number 3638.

Remove belt, remove crankshaft pulley bolt, remove pulley with gear puller, pry old seal out with a pick, install new seal onto crank and tap in with a socket and mallet.

Update on leaks.

With the replacement of the front main, and both oil pan gaskets, all leaks have stopped. It's nice having the bottom of the engine nice and clean again.

Just reading this again.  The 3.8 has TWO oil pan gaskets?  Where's the one other than the main lower gasket?

There's an aluminum skirt that uses an extruded rubber and metal gasket, then there is the actual oil pan/ sump that uses a rtv gasket. The oil pan is actually a two piece pan
